LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – September 29, 2004 – EPCglobal IncTM, a joint venture of EAN International and the Uniform Code Council, Inc.® (UCC®), announced the formation of the EPCglobal Architecture Review Committee (ARC). Adhering to the EPCglobal standards development process, the ARC will be responsible for the design and maintenance of the EPCglobal NetworkTM architecture. The EPCglobal Network is an enabling technology that combines Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, the Internet, and the Electronic Product CodeTM (EPC) to enable accurate, cost-efficient visibility of information in the supply chain.

Led by Chairperson Greg Allgair, vice president of product management at EPCglobal US, the ARC has responsibility for creating, documenting, and maintaining the EPCglobal Network architecture according to the strategic direction of the EPCglobal Board of Governors. The committee is also responsible for advising the board on the impact of existing supply chain and other business initiatives; identifying components in the architecture that require standards and recommending appropriate standards, and collaborating with other standards development organizations regarding technical, process and data standards.

The EPCglobal ARC reports to EPCglobal Inc President Chris Adcock. "The formation of the EPCglobal Architecture Review Committee demonstrates the continuing evolution of the EPCglobal Network and the standards development process," said Mr. Adcock. "The EPCglobal Architecture Review Committee will enable EPCglobal Inc to consolidate architecture discussions to a single committee staffed by business and technology experts with broad expertise in understanding the business and technology implications of architectural decisions."

The EPCglobal Inc president appoints the ARC chairperson and two ARC delegates from within the EPCglobal organization while both the EPCglobal Technical and Business Steering Committees appoint the remaining six delegates. The following individuals have accepted appointment to the EPCglobal ARC: Greg Allgair, EPCglobal US; Henri Barthel, EPCglobal Inc; Leo Burstein, The Gillette Company; John Garrett, Tesco Stores Ltd; Suen K.K., EPCglobal HK; Bryan Rodrigues, CVS Corporation; Sanjay Sarma, OATSystems/MIT; Roger Stewart, Intelleflex; and Ken Traub, ConnecTerra, Inc.

"EPCglobal Architecture Review Committee delegates were invited because of their knowledge and dedication to the EPCglobal vision," said Greg Allgair, chair of the EPCglobal ARC. "The expertise that this committee possesses will help facilitate worldwide adoption of Electronic Product Code technology and ensure that future industry requirements are addressed."
