EAN International and Uniform Code Council Name Chris Adcock President of EPCglobal Inc

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM/LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ, July 30th, 2004 – The Board of Governors of EPCglobal, Inc., the organization that is leading the drive to standardize and commercialize the Electronic Product Code (EPC), today announced that they have appointed Chris Adcock as President of the organization. Mr. Adcock's appointment was also approved by the respective Boards EAN International and the Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC), which are co-partners in the EPCglobal joint venture.

In his new position, Mr. Adcock will lead the global, multi-industry adoption of the EPCglobal Network, which utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and a network system to capture information and enable real-time identification and sharing of information throughout the global supply chain.

A native of the United Kingdom, Mr. Adcock brings to EPCglobal extensive experience and leadership in international business activities. Since 1989, he has held a series of senior management positions in Europe with The Gillette Company. In 2002, Mr. Adcock was appointed the General Manager of The Gillette Company's Nordic Region, with full Profit & Loss responsibility for the entire line of Gillette products. Managing a team of over 200 employees at four different locations, Mr. Adcock helped the company achieve growth in market share, implemented new practices to reduce costs, and led a global team to develop new ways to better serve Gillette's multi-national customers.

In welcoming Mr. Adcock to his new position, Dick Cantwell, the Lead Director of the EPCglobal Board of Governors said, "Chris has enjoyed a distinguished career at The Gillette Company and will bring great energy and leadership to the EPCglobal organization. He is a sharp strategic thinker, a proven consensus builder, and knows how to convert community support into real, tangible results. I know he will bring that same standard of excellence to EPCglobal and help users unlock the power and potential of the Electronic Product Code."

Commenting on Mr. Adcock's appointment, Miguel Angel Lopera, Chief Executive Officer of EAN International and the Uniform Code Council, said, "In the past year we have seen tremendous progress and growing community support for EPC technology. Having a leader of Chris' caliber will accelerate this momentum. He offers a rare blend of business expertise and a truly global business perspective, which will be invaluable as numerous industries around the world begin to implement EPC technology. We are confident Chris' leadership will power broad adoption of this critically important technology, which will deliver benefits to businesses and consumers alike."

EAN International and the UCC announced that Mr. Adcock will begin his official duties as EPCglobal President on September 1st. In order to support his worldwide business activities, Mr. Adcock will split his time between two offices that will be located in London, U.K., at the e.centre (EAN UK), and in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, at the headquarters of the Uniform Code Council.

Mr. Adcock holds an MBA from Cranfield University in the UK.
