EPCglobal Action Groups

EPCglobal Action Groups are a subscription benefit and are designed to bring together international users from a variety of industries to define business and technical requirements for the EPCglobal NetworkTM. Action Groups help develop the foundational building blocks of the EPCglobal Network, working towards the creation of industry standards and commercial adoption.

Subscribing companies to EPCglobal are encouraged to provide company representatives to participate in these groups. The following is a list of Action Groups that have been established.

  • Business Action Group (BAG)
Business Action Groups (BAGs) are comprised of representatives from companies that currently use or plan to utilise EPCglobal Network technology. These groups aim to establish business requirements and use cases across multiple industries to facilitate supply chain efficiency.

There are currently two Business Action Groups:
    1)   Fast Moving Consumer Goods
    2)   Healthcare & Life Sciences

  • The Hardware Action Group (HAG) defines the interfaces between hardware components (primarily RFID tags and readers) in the EPCglobal Network.

  • The Software Action Group (SAG) defines software interface and other standards both within the EPCglobal Network elements and between these and other elements of enterprise systems distributed over a number of enterprises and geographies.

As members of the EPCglobal community, subscribers may participate in any action group and have one vote per action group.

As a user-driver organization, EPCglobal works with retailers, manufacturers, hardware, software and integration solution providers to create and share intellectual property that will benefit the entire subscriber base.

EPCglobal is committed to open use of the EPCglobal Network and has adopted policies that encourage such use while protecting network integrity. The EPCglobal Intellectual Property (IP) Policy ensures that all companies subscribing to the organization have open, neutral access to EPCglobal Network technology and standards. The agreement guarantees that the technology remains non-proprietary for the benefit of industry as a whole.

Companies with a desire to participate in any Action Group or Working Group are required to sign the appropriate EPCglobal Intellectual Property (IP) Policy and fax it to EPCglobal Singapore at Fax : (65) 68263070. For more information on how to participate in an Action or Working Group, please contact Mr Andy Siow at Email : sanc1@gs1.org.sg, Tel : (65) 68263081 or Fax : (65) 68263070.

In Singapore, under GS1 Singapore, an EPCglobal/RFID Working Group has been formed. For more information, please contact Mr Andy Siow.

EPCglobal looks forward to working closely with its subscribers to develop industry-accepted standards for the EPCglobal Network and drive commercial adoption. With your help, EPCglobal will revolutionize the way organizations manage their supply chains.
